Continuous Update of Certification™

For those who need to demonstrate evidence of continuous update of certification, this can be accomplished in the following ways:
· Taking the certifying examination of the National Board of Clinical Medicine™ .
· Serve on the Examination Formulation Team for 2 years. At the end of each year of participation, the physician will receive documentation stating that they are participating in the Continuous Update of Certification™ program.
· Complete 25 hours of continuing medical education acceptable to the physician’s state medical board.

Recertification

There is no expiration date for board certification from the National Board of Clinical Medicine™. The National Board of Clinical Medicine™ believes that expiration dates for board certification are meaningless. The National Board of Clinical Medicine™ feels that doctors should, and for the most part are, constantly keeping their clinical knowledge up to date by seeing and appropriately taking care of their patients. That is the most important factor in keeping excellent doctors excellent. Good doctors work daily and practice medicine the best when they not only learn new pieces of knowledge from books, but also when they interact with other doctors, access internet-based educational resources, and ask questions of other experts in the field.

However, for those physicians who nonetheless need to demonstrate recertification, they have the following options:

· take the same exam as those who initially certify.
. serve on the Examination Formulation Team for 2 years.
